Get ready for Thrive Across America a new online physical activity program that lets employees and retirees compete against other County employees and retirees and have fun while getting fit.
Tour the country online: With Thrive Across America, you sign up online to go on a virtual tour of some of our nation’s most interesting places. When you log your physical activity it appears as progress along a preset route. Stops along the route include national parks, famous recreational areas, wildlife preserves, cultural attractions, and historical landmarks.
Team up and compete: Connect with friends to help motivate and support each other. Teams consist of 4-10 members who work together or are retired from the county to keep active. At the end of the eight week program, County of Sonoma will reward the team with the most points with a $50 MasterCard for each team member. Team membership is not required to participate.
Anyone can be a star: Consistency, not athleticism, is the key to success here. For each day you record 30 minutes or more of exercise, you earn a Thrive Across America star. The more stars you and your team earn, the higher your score.
Make exercising fun again: Turn exercise into a social event, switch up your gym routine, or try a new class you’ve been eyeing. Choosing activities you enjoy will help you stay motivated over the long run—leading to results you can see and feel.
Registration and team formation began February 20, 2012. The deadline to form or join a team is March 18, 2012. The team competition ends on April 29, 2012.
You may begin recording your activity on Monday, March 5, 2012 and continue recording activity through March 4, 2013.
Visit http://countyofsonoma.thriveacrossamerica.com to sign up today. Program is limited to County of Sonoma employees and retirees only.
Everyone who signs up for Thrive Across America will be enrolled in the iWALK challenge. Go to www.iwalksonoma.org to find out more. Anyone that works or lives in the County of Sonoma is eligible to enroll in the iWALK challenge on their own.
